ARDMS Exam ARDMS Exams

The American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography exam (ARDMS exam) is a registry that involves three separate tests to achieve certification as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ultrasound technologist).

The ARDMS exam or ARDMS exams are taken usually after complete a one to two year program in ultrasound. The ARDMS exam or ARDMS exams requires verification of the completion of the course and proof that the course was passed. The ARDMS exam or ARDMS exams also requires completion of a certain amount of clinical hours before the ARDMS exam or ARDMS exams can be taken. The three sections of the ARDMS exam or ARDMS exams are Abdomen, OB/GYN, and Ultrasound Physics and Instrumentation.

The ARDMS exam or ARDMS exams only need to be passed (about a 70% or greater), and there are always several practice questions that are thrown out every year. Once these three exams are all completed with a passing grade, the applicant will be a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, and the initials RDMS can be placed behind his or her name.

ARDMS Physics
